about time

Obama could have ended this controversy a month ago by completely denouncing Wright's racist comments. Instead, he chose to give him the "benefit of the doubt." Why? Probably because Obama seriously finds some truth in Wright's comments - a very, very scary prospect in a serious Presidential candidate. Wright hasn't changed any of his opinions - in fact, he went even further by saying that the uproar over his comments has been an attack on the "black church." Obama must have realized how much trouble Wright has been and will continue to be for his campaign - thus the reason for today's harsh criticism.

Wright's rhetoric hasn't changed. He is still a racist - and I cannot believe the media gives this idiot any airtime at all. If this were a white person spewing this hateful speech, he would never get the time of day - - in fact he would probably get a citation as was seen in Chicago a couple weeks ago when a councilwoman got a ticket for calling [black] children "monkeys" as they were climbing in a tree (like MONKEYS) - - anyway, perhaps I shouldn't be complaining because Wright is absolutely ruining Obama's chances of getting elected. yay!

Obama says this "this is not the person that [he] met 20 years ago" ... oh yeah? This isn't the man who gave a sermon about God damning America, or that the government caused AIDS? You sat through the sermons... he was your personal mentor... your buddy. This sort of HATE and RACISM does not arise suddenly just because you are running for president. Wright didn't start HATING white people after you started running for President - he has felt this way for years and you knew it!

The damage has been done.

thanks abc!

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080417/tv_abc_s_debate.html?.v=1&printer=1

wow... as if this election couldn't get any weirder! now we have the liberal media bashing the liberal media?! liberal bloggers and writers are criticizing ABC news for how they mediated the Wednesday (April 16) Democratic candidate debate. They say that Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos were too harsh on the candidates and didn't focus on the issues.

It's about time the candidates are forced to be a little bit uncomfortable and answer for the stupid things that they have done throughout this ridiculous campaign. The bloggers are upset because they brought up racist Rev. Wright, terrorist Bill Ayers (Weather Underground and UIC prof...), Bosnian sniper fire, bitter Pennsylvanians, and Obama's refusal to wear an American flag pin or salute the flag. They say these are "trivial matters" ... trivial matters?? These are the only things that we can base our decisions on! Every politician on the planet promises great and wonderful things - how do we know they are actually going to follow through with those ideas? We don't. I think that everyone can agree their track record is not very good. At least with Hillary there is a reasonably significant Senate record to let us know she's capable of making policy. Obama?! A rookie? Who knows...?

So what do we base our judgments on? These are not trivial matters. These are matters of character and character is certainly not trivial.

Of course the Iraq war and economy are important - - but when the character flaws are so deep, we cannot help but pay very close attention to them. Thank you ABC for doing so.

CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - An Illinois delegate for Democratic Sen. Barack Obama resigned after using the word "monkey" to describe black children playing in a tree, the Obama campaign said Tuesday.

Her exact words were:
"the tree is not there for them to be climbing in there like monkeys." The Carpentersville police issued her a violation for her "disorderly conduct." I am going to assume in Carpentersville it is disorderly to compare children climbing in trees to animals that also climb in trees... because the other assumption, that this is in some way racial, is the absolute most absurd thing I have ever heard. Hey, guess what, monkeys climb in trees! I know... earth-shattering!

Since when did Americans become so terrified of being labeled racist that they can't even use the word "monkey" around a black person?

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest it was perhaps around the same time that a certain candidate decided to shove race into the national spotlight; suggesting that the United States has a HUGE race relations problem.

The United States is one of the (if not the MOST) racially equal nations on Earth. Rather than focusing on this "problem," (which seems to have created an even bigger problem) why don't we focus on the failing economy? Or the failing Iraq war? Or the national debt? Or medicare? Or Social security? Or immigration reform? Or health care? Or education?

I don't mean to suggest that racial inequality doesn't exist, or that it is not a problem. It certainly is, and deserves attention in this nation. However, think about the problems I listed above, race relations does not deserve more attention.

A bill signed into law Monday by Gov. Rod Blagojevich made Illinois the third state, after Maryland and New Jersey, ready to bypass the Electoral College in November. The three states, with a combined 46 electoral votes, won't act unless states totaling 270 electoral votes—enough to elect a president—sign on.

Blago and the rest of the Democrats trying to make sure the Republicans don't "steal" the election again... perhaps they should go back and re-read the Constitution (Article 2, Section 1).

Critics of the proposal say it could reduce the influence of smaller states, and that a close presidential election would require a nationwide recount.

Not to mention it is unconstitutional...

atheism is dangerous???

http://blogs.chicagotribune.com/news_columnists_ezorn/2008/04/rep-monique-dav.html

Democrat (although in this case it would probably hardly matter...) Monique Davis lays into an atheist activist. Saying:

"It’s dangerous to the progression of this state. And it’s dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists!"

Atheism is not dangerous for this state. Ignorant outbursts from stupid politicians are however. Children should be learning FACTS in school. There is a religious group known as Christians... here is what they believe. There is a religious group called Muslims... here is what they believe. And Buddhists, and Hindus, and on and on and on... Some people choose not to believe in a religion... they are called atheists... and on and on and on...

See, that wasn't too bad. In fact, students may find it fascinating that human beings have so many belief systems... imagine that... kids being stimulated by learning NEW things about this world. We live in an ever-shrinking world, lets expand our educational horizon - I think that we all could learn something.

HUMAN-cow embryos have been created in a world first at Newcastle University in England, hailed by the scientific community, but labelled "monstrous" by opponents. The embryos survived for three days and are intended to provide a limitless supply of stem cells to develop therapies for diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and spinal cord injuries, overcoming a worldwide shortfall in human embryos.

"monstrous"?? Is it monstrous to cure Alzheimer's? Parkinson's? Downs syndrome? I argue it would be monstrous NOT to.

"I cannot see that that respects human life or the dignity of human life." the Church... No, this type of research is the highest kind of respect and dignity of human life because it will give life to millions upon millions of people that would otherwise not have a chance.

"Human beings - or even almost human embryos - are not just things that you can use in a laboratory experiment. " - Catholic church...naturally... What is an "ALMOST human embryo"?

Why are we denying ourselves a key to the cure of so many HORRIBLE disorders?

Lawmakers from California to Kentucky are trying to save money with a drastic and potentially dangerous budget-cutting proposal: releasing tens of thousands of convicts from prison, including drug addicts, thieves and even violent criminals.

Want to talk about pure economics? How about the potential to lose BILLIONS of dollars in production because workers will be seriously injured or killed by violent criminals released by these idiot "lawmakers."

This is no solution to the problem. The problem is that incarceration costs way too much money. The solution ought to be LOWERING the COST of incarceration; NOT ELIMINATING IT ALTOGETHER.

How about making jail life a little less comfortable? Give me one good reason that a CRIMINAL needs anything more than the basics: food, water, and shelter. I cannot imagine anything cheaper than three meals a day of bread and water in an 8x8 concrete cell.
