Obama and Clinton Spending Furiously - Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton both spend at the furious clip of nearly a million dollars a day in January as they battled to win the initial contest for the Democratic nomination, according to filings on Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission.
Clinton: "...her total receipts were $138 millions..."
Obama: "...raised $137 million."
Couldn't this money be better spent else where? The Democratic Party runs on a platform that supports the underprivileged through strong social programs, such as moratoriums on foreclosures/evictions, universal health care or welfare programs like food stamps. What kind of message to the underprivileged does spending this crazy amount of money on the glitzy campaign?
What does the person that has trouble paying their mortgage, their health care costs, or even putting food on the table think about "their candidate" spending $1,000,000 per day on their personal quest to gain the presidential election?
It's expensive to try to communicate to 300,000,000 plus U.S. Citizens who you are and what you stand for, I understand, and I believe even the poorest of people could rationalize that. Yet, how does John McCain do the same thing for almost $100,000,000 less?
